A Different Kind of Post, But a Very Important One!
Today, we want to show you how environmental compensation is carried out here at Nerd Stickers.
We know that the relationship between humanity and the environment has never been as widely discussed as it is today — and the fact is, people need to get more involved in environmental issues and immerse themselves in the discussions happening around them.
Given the need to balance the conservation of resources with economic development, environmental compensation emerged as a mechanism for protecting the environment.
The application of compensatory measures aims to repair, in some way, the damage caused by various sectors.
Since the beginning, Nerd Stickers has always focused on reducing environmental impact, and in this post, we’ll show you exactly how we approach this process.
One of the main ways we participate in environmental compensation is through eureciclo, a company that manages the entire process.
Through their work, we are able to uphold our commitment to making a positive difference in the world.
Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle — this is our goal at Nerd Stickers.
Every material destined for disposal within our company follows these three pillars.
We make sure that every item is correctly processed, and that’s why, when an order is mistakenly produced or needs correction for any reason, we request its return for proper handling.
Below, we’ll explain in more detail how the entire process works here. Let’s dive in!
What is eureciclo?
eureciclo was founded in 2016 by New Hope Ecotech with the mission of building a more sustainable world by promoting the value of recycling.
Their model is based on environmental compensation as a solution for reverse logistics.
And how does it work?
It consists of properly allocating a mass of waste equivalent to the mass of packaging that a company places on the market.
About eureciclo
According to the company, “what drives eureciclo is the desire found in each and every person who is part of the movement to change the world in a positive way.
This movement arises as a consequence of both a social and environmental context.
These factors inspire the eureciclo team to develop and improve solutions for the recycling chain in Brazil.”
Considering that business models often cause significant negative environmental impacts, it’s important to highlight the responsibility companies have when marketing products with packaging — a responsibility that is essential for mitigating their environmental footprint.
Accountability through environmental compensation via certificates (CRE) is a model already adopted in several European Union countries, aiming to reduce the impact caused after packaging consumption.
Building a sustainable world by promoting recycling.
Vision: To surpass recycling targets across Latin America by 2023.
Values: Sustainability, transparency, and inclusion.
Social, Environmental, and Economic Impact
With the eureciclo certification seal, highly relevant externalities for recycling in our country are made possible.
On the environmental level, financial incentives are created through the remuneration of operators responsible for collecting and sorting waste.
With these incentives, there is a natural increase in both the number of operators and the amount of material collected.
In the economic sphere, many companies recognize the need to comply with environmental legislation and adopt reverse logistics solutions through eureciclo — a simple and accessible solution.
This, in turn, expands the remuneration of operators and increases overall operational capacity.
On the social side, both waste pickers and cooperative workers are properly compensated for their respective roles in the collection and sorting of recyclable materials.
These individuals, who contribute so much to the recycling chain, are currently responsible for collecting 90% of all recyclable waste.
What Does Nerd Stickers Do to Reduce Environmental Impact?
In addition to being part of eureciclo and sharing the company’s ideals, we also seek to mitigate social and environmental impacts in other ways, such as:
Recycling of bobbins and cardboard packaging:
Every bobbin we receive comes packed inside a cardboard box.
This material is collected daily at Nerd Stickers to ensure it follows the proper recycling cycle.
Materials that are not reused within the company, such as liner paper, are collected by specialized companies in Uberaba that sell paints.
The collected material is then passed on to painters, who repurpose it to protect surfaces during painting work.
Nerd Stickers’ Inks Are Special
Our commitment to the environment extends from the production of our materials all the way to the inks we use.
With our Epson printers, we are part of an environmental philosophy.
In addition to participating in a collection program, where all materials are recovered and recycled, Epson also creates and supplies eco-friendly products.
Eco-friendly products are those whose environmental impacts are considered from their design phase all the way through to their final disposal.
Our goal is to prioritize the purchase of materials that have a lower environmental impact, allowing us to create and provide eco-friendly products, as stated in our environmental policy.
In addition, Epson has two emission policies:
Zero Emission Level 1, which establishes 100% recycling of waste generated from manufacturing activities, and Zero Emission Level 2, which focuses on reducing the total volume of waste produced, thereby helping to mitigate environmental damage.
