I’m Sure You’ve Played a Buggy Game Before!
At some point in your life, I bet you’ve played a game that was full of bugs! Sometimes, these glitches can be hilarious, but most of the time, they make you want to throw your controller at the wall. I’ve played plenty of great games that became frustrating experiences because of too many bugs—and we have a recent example: the infamous case of Cyberpunk 2077.
Game developers spend millions and promise to deliver unique titles with an amazing experience, but when something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Newer-generation games suffer from bugs due to highly demanding graphics, which put a strain on operating systems, leading to serious problems. But sometimes, even small coding errors can create massive issues, sparking outrage in the gaming community.
Bugs have always existed in games—from generation to generation, they keep showing up. Console games aren’t immune either! Over the years, we’ve seen major titles that rushed their releases and ended up with legendary bugs.
Besides game-breaking bugs, we also have glitches—which, in some cases, give players an unfair advantage. Let’s be honest, who hasn’t taken advantage of a glitch before? But whether we like it or not, bugs can seriously affect gameplay.
Thinking about all the buggiest games out there, I’ve put together a list of the most notorious ones in gaming history. Check it out!
Cyberpunk 2077 – The Next-Gen Disappointment
I have to start this list with one of my biggest gaming disappointments—especially because I believed all the promises the developer made over the years.
Sure, bugs are inevitable in any game, but there’s a limit to how many a player can tolerate before the experience becomes unplayable.
After multiple delays, the gaming community started getting frustrated. The pandemic may have caused some setbacks, but it wasn’t the real reason for the game’s broken state.
To give you an idea of how embarrassing this was for CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 was removed from the PlayStation Store. And not just removed—the company was forced to refund thousands of players, reaching an insanely high refund rate.
The game was announced in 2012, and production started in 2016, with the promise of revolutionizing RPGs. CD Projekt had to invest in new technology and develop an entirely new system from scratch.
Had they been able to reuse some elements from The Witcher 3 (their last big hit), maybe the results would have been different. But the development timeline was completely unrealistic, and the promises way too ambitious.
The final game was a disaster, especially on older consoles like the PS4 Slim, where it crashed constantly and was full of game-breaking bugs.
If you ignore the bugs, Cyberpunk 2077 actually has a great story! But unfortunately, the lack of quality control during testing and the rush to launch an unfinished game made the experience incredibly frustrating.
We had been hyped since E3 2018, and when the game finally came out, it was a massive letdown.
And let’s not forget—the launch price was insanely high, costing nearly 300 BRL ($60 USD). Today, you can find it for just 69.90 BRL (~$14 USD) in major stores.
I don’t recommend the experience! 🚫

FIFA – EA “Bugs” Never Misses
First of all, let me make it clear that I’ve been playing this EA franchise for years—the famous FIFA, the go-to soccer game for many. However, that doesn’t change the fact that the game is riddled with bugs that frustrate any player. Unfortunately, these issues are present every single year in the franchise.
The developer is entirely responsible for delivering such a flawed product, continuously disappointing its loyal fanbase.
Since I first got into gaming, EA has been infamous for its bugs. There are many possible reasons for this, such as:
⚙️ Tight deadlines
📜 Massive amounts of complex code
😒 Plain negligence from the developers
If you’ve ever seen a player’s leg moving weirdly, a goalkeeper diving at the worst possible moment, or a referee running in random directions, don’t be alarmed. These bugs have become part of the experience.
To make matters worse, FIFA games often suffer from unstable servers, which further ruin the experience. Combine that with all the in-game bugs, and the result is frustration overload.
Another major issue is online gameplay manipulation, known in the community as “handicaps.” Many players swear that results feel rigged at times, with strange gameplay shifts happening for no reason. Some may call it player complaints, but if you dig deep enough into forums and discussions, you’ll see this issue is widely debated.
That said, I still recommend FIFA to my friends—but be prepared for some serious rage moments!
The Sims – EA and Its Never-Ending Bugs
After discussing FIFA, EA’s flops continue with The Sims.
The concept of the game is amazing—it’s a great casual life simulation game, but… well, the bugs. 😅
There are many reasons for these issues, mainly due to:
🔄 Frequent updates
🛠️ Mod changes
🔧 Poor optimization
To be fair, some of the glitches in The Sims are hilarious and don’t impact gameplay too much. Seeing floating objects, weird character movements, or bizarre interactions can actually be pretty fun.
However, things get frustrating when certain bugs break the game entirely. Some of the most recent issues reported by the community include:
❄️ Interactions freezing
🎵 Music suddenly stopping
📉 Severe FPS drops
🚫 Game crashes
At least EA’s support system still functions relatively well, and community forums help players find solutions over time. But let’s be honest—the bare minimum EA should do is fix these bugs!
Even with these glitches, I keep playing The Sims—building my dream house and decorating my furniture. I still recommend it! 🏡🎮

For Honor – A Bug That Ruined a Championship
Game developers never seem to learn from their competitors’ mistakes, and Ubisoft is no exception. When they launched For Honor, they made big promises—but you already know how that goes, right? 😅
Sometimes, unexpected bugs can actually benefit players, and when used at the right moment, they can be game-breaking.
In fact, For Honor became infamous for causing worldwide embarrassment during a tournament organized by Ubisoft itself.
Since the developers didn’t fix key bugs before the competition, the unexpected happened—a player won the entire tournament using a glitch. The community was outraged, but technically, there was no rule against it, which led to a super awkward situation.
The glitch was named “Unlock Tech” by the community. By executing specific commands, it became impossible to block incoming attacks, giving players an unfair advantage.
With a fast sequence of commands, defending against these bugged attacks became completely impossible—which is exactly what Jakob Palen did to win the tournament effortlessly.
Besides this tournament-ruining glitch, online players also encountered “hit kill” attacks that appeared after certain patch updates.
As a result, For Honor earned a bad reputation and struggled to attract new players. Ubisoft’s solution? Make the game free on multiple platforms to get people to try it.
And that’s exactly how I ended up playing For Honor! I actually recommend the story mode—it’s pretty interesting! 🎮
Assassin’s Creed – A Full Menu of Bugs
Bugs are definitely in gaming’s DNA, but at this point, it feels like they’re part of Ubisoft’s identity. I’m not here to trash the franchise—in fact, I enjoy Assassin’s Creed. But I can’t help but laugh when I remember some of the hilarious bugs I’ve encountered in these games.
This franchise’s innovative gameplay wasn’t immune to glitches, many of which were visual bugs, similar to what happens in The Sims. However, some bugs were so bad that they led to disastrous moments in the game.
One of the most terrifying bugs in the series happened in Assassin’s Creed IV, where players encountered a “rain of dead bodies.” Imagine playing an action-adventure game, only to suddenly see corpses falling from the sky—pretty creepy, right? 😨
This freaked out a lot of players, and many took their complaints to forums and sites like Reclame Aqui, sharing some truly bizarre bug reports.
To Ubisoft’s credit, they handled player complaints well, responding with care and professionalism—which is admirable, considering these are their paying customers.
Assassin’s Creed Unity – A Horror Show
Among all the Assassin’s Creed bugs, the ones in Unity are probably the most infamous.
One of the most disturbing glitches made the protagonist look like a monstrous creature, with only his eyes and mouth visible—it looked like something straight out of a horror movie! 👀😱
Ubisoft later clarified that this bug only affected the PC version, but let’s be real—that’s still a huge issue.
Between downgrades, broken mechanics, and weird visual bugs, Assassin’s Creed Unity became a laughing stock in the gaming community.
Even so, I still recommend some games in the franchise—just be prepared for a few unexpected surprises along the way! 😆🎮

Bugs Are Among Us
Anyone involved in technology is already used to dealing with lines of code gone wrong. In the gaming world, it’s no different. However, as consumers, we always expect the best from a product.
I hope you enjoyed this list! Have you ever experienced a crazy bug in a game? Drop it in the comments! 🎮
It’s always a pleasure to be here—sending a big hug, and I’ll see you in the next post!
