What to Expect from Brazil’s Comic Con Experience 2018

Imagine an event where you can meet your favorite actors, attend panels, and watch exclusive previews of upcoming releases. Sounds like something you’d only find abroad, right? But that’s exactly what Comic Con Experience (CCXP) brings to Brazil.

Known as CCXP, this super event celebrated its fifth Brazilian edition in 2018. In addition to supporting national artists — who showcase their comics in a special area — the event also brings huge international highlights. No wonder this was set to be the biggest edition in CCXP history.

To help you plan, we’ve listed the major attractions confirmed so far. Check them out!

🎉 Power Rangers 25th Anniversary Celebration

It’s morphin’ time! The Power Rangers franchise prepared a special celebration for its 25th anniversary at CCXP. Special panels were dedicated to the many generations of rangers, and five actors, one of each color, were invited.

Among them was Walter Jones, the original Black Ranger. Jason Faunt, who played the Red Ranger in Power Rangers: Time Force (2001), also made an appearance. From the same season, Erin Cahill, the Pink Ranger (and love interest of the Red Ranger), joined the party.

Completing the team were Ciara Hanna, Yellow Ranger from Megaforce and Super Megaforce, and Yoshi Sudarso, the Blue Ranger from the newer seasons. Yoshi has also appeared in The Maze Runner and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..

🦾 An Avenger Among Us

Even the most die-hard DC fans have been won over by Marvel’s cinematic success. One of the most requested guests since the first CCXP has been Sebastian Stan, who plays Bucky Barnes, a.k.a. The Winter Soldier, in the MCU. He first appeared in Captain America: The First Avenger and was recently seen in Avengers: Infinity War.

Stan has also appeared in shows like Once Upon a Time (as the Mad Hatter) and Gossip Girl. In 2019, he was confirmed for Avengers 4. At CCXP, he participated in panels about his career and also held autograph and photo sessions with fans.

⚡ #StrangerThingsDay at CCXP

November 6 is when Will disappeared in Season 1 of Stranger Things. It’s also the date when CCXP confirmed an official panel for the show. With Season 3 on the way, attendees could expect to see exclusive sneak peeks or trailers.

Best of all: Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Noah Schnapp (Will), and Sadie Sink (Max) were all there, appearing on December 9.

🌟 Super Guests

Warner Bros. announced a special screening of Creed II featuring stars Michael B. Jordan (also known for Black Panther) and Florian “Big Nasty” Munteanu. Think DC was left out? Not a chance — Zachary Levi came to talk about Shazam!.

While Sebastian Stan had already made multiple MCU appearances, Brie Larson was just getting started. She was confirmed as Captain Marvel, another big name attending CCXP.

Other stars included Sandra Bullock, who came to promote her Netflix film, and director M. Night Shyamalan, known for The Sixth Sense, Split, and the upcoming Glass.

🎟️ When and Where

Now that you know what to expect from Comic Con Experience 2018, planning what to see becomes much easier! The event took place December 6–9, at São Paulo Expo (Rod. dos Imigrantes, 1).

Each year, the event offers special packages that include VIP access, early entry, guided tours, and more. These packages were already sold out, but individual day tickets were still available — ranging from R$109.99 (Thursday half-day) to R$379.98 (Sunday full price).
